Weiterhin hat der deutsche Buchmaler Reinhold Metz 1977 eine handgeschriebene Ausgabe veröffentlicht. Die beiden bekanntesten Übersetzungen ins Deutsche liefern wohl Ludwig Tieck (1799-1801 erschienen) und Ludwig Braunfels (aus dem Jahr 1848).

Sowohl im Spanischen als auch im Deutschen wurde der Don Quijote für ein bestimmtes Publikum bearbeitet, darunter auch für Kinder. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine vereinfachte und gekürzte Abfassung des Originals. Ziel meiner Arbeit ist einerseits, die Unterschiede zwischen einer Übersetzung und einer Bearbeitung aufzuzeigen und andererseits, den spanischen Originaltext des Don Quijote mit den beiden deutschen Übersetzungen von Ludwig Tieck und Ludwig Braunfels und mit je einer deutschen und einer spanischen Kinderbuchbearbeitung zu vergleichen, außerdem auf subjektive artwork und Weise ausgewählte Textpassagen aufzuzeigen, zu kritisieren und zu beurteilen.
